Gideon’s defense meekly
Bizarre recruitment methods slated
Military
strategists have warned of a pending disaster should the Israelite Defense
Force attempt to attack the well-equipped Midianite Army. Combatants returning from a military exercise
pointed out that the Israelite force had been cut from a Division to a
Regiment.
Originally
only volunteers were chosen, but numbers were further reduced by implementing a
peculiar drinking ritual. Annalists say the unusual selection process could be
attributed to the leader Gideon’s misguided faith in the supernatural. The
farmer from Ophrah’s Village rose to prominence when he and some farm labourers
destroyed a shrine of the goddess Asherah.
Gideon
has admitted to not being able to make decisions easily, but denied that they
were irrational.
